The main key to be a safe a Skillful Driver is:-

You must behave considerately to the others and be caution so that no danger, damage or inconven-ience is caused to others, and so that traffic is not unnecessarily hindered or disturbed. Considera-tion must also be given to those who live or stay by the road.
We have also uploaded some videos as well to help you, so that you get better understanding of the traffic rules and need less hrs. in order to pass a road test in first attempt. But, please mind that these videos are from Canada, US and from England and some traffic rules may differ from the Danish, so its very important that you also read the written information below together with the videos.

Driving tips and tricks:-

Adjust the seat and put the seat belt on and then adjust the side mirrors.
LOOSE HAND ON THE STEERING WHEEL hold the steering wheel such as quoter to three.

Hold the clutch all the way down to start the engine, to change the gear and to stop up the car. Remember to release the clutch slowly while starting up otherwise your engine will shut off.
Should be smooth without any force or noise (be sure your clutch is all the way down before gear change).
About the manual gear Click Here
  • First gear is always a startup gear.
  • Shift to the 2 gears while turning or before turning to avoid high speed in the turn.
  • Gear change principals:
          0-10 km/h = 1 gear
          10-25 km/h = 2 gear
          25-40 km/h = 3 gear
          40-60 km/h 4 gear
          60-70 km/h = 5 gear
          70 km/h or above = 6 gear.
  • Speed up first then change the gear, speed down first and then change the gear.
Break all speeds above 30 km/h without clutch and then clutch down afterwards.
BRAKING - Lightly press at the end instead of more pressure right at the end. REMEMBER to brake well in advance.
See Boards, Lane lines ends up or lane narrowing, remember to orientate both in the mirrors and head over shoulder.
Always place yourself in the right lane if you are going straight, until or unless you have a reason to be in the left lane for eg. Right lane is blocked because of parked vehicles or road work.
In general not in the intersection or before the intersection where you have to cross the barrier lines. (as a general rule, you cannot drive over the barrier line or cross them) and always remember to orient before you turn your steering wheel that means change lane or change the direction of your car.
Lane change video Click Here
Orient before you turn on the indicator. Turn on the indicator 50 - 100 meters before the turn or lane change. Join the turn lane as soon as possible.
Rules to Remember
  • Before entering into the turning lane, Orientate - Indicate - Break a little - Position - Close up for the cyclists and do so at a slow speed.
  • Before leaving the turn, Adjust the Gear - Orientate - Release the brake - Lift the clutch - Turn - remember to follow the curb around the right to avoid large turns. Turn only when there are no pedestrians and cyclists.
  • REMEMBER TO REGISTER THE COLOR & TYPE OF LIGHT SIGNAL, NUMBER OF lanes and the speed limit ON the NEW ROAD. Choose always the right lane if you have two lanes, more or less if you have a reason to be in the left lane.

  • Orient before you turn on the indicator. Turn on the indicator 50 - 100 meters before the turn or lane change. Join the turn lane as soon as possible.
    Rules to Remember
    • Small intersection - go straight until you are in the middle of that lane where you want to be before you turn your steering wheel. Turn only when there is no oncoming traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. Give an overview of the new road in the terms of location, lanes, obstacles and speed. Orientate over the shoulder once again before turning.
    • Big intersection - follow the lane line in the middle to the left. Or - Follow the curved edge with gentle and constant rotation. Look where the curved edge starts constantly to turn with. Turn only when there is no oncoming traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. Give an overview of the new road in the terms of location, lanes, obstacles and speed. Keep an eye on Swing Arrows. (Do not hesitate to drive.) Once you have chosen to turn, focus on the new road Keep an eye on the color and type of traffic light while driving. Orientate over the shoulder once again before turning.
    • BOARD OVERVIEW - Look at all boards - especially in terms of speed, merges and lane location.
    • OVERVIEW - in terms of number of lanes, speed limit sign boards, obstacles, yield obligations, etc.
Always 2 gears, brake down to 15-20 km/h remember to orientate towards the left before entering in the roundabout and remember to orientate towards the right before leaving the roundabout.
10-20 km/h (possibly 1st gear, if the overview is not clear) foot on the brake & remember to orientate both on the right and left side.
Brake all the way down if you do not have a clear view of intersection and you are not sure about that there is no body you have to hold back for.

(This video) Yield sign, absolute duty to give away Click Here
Keep furthest to the left if you want to turn left and right of course if you want to turn right.
Hold back for those who are on their way to or are in the pedestrian area, release the accelerator and be ready to break if you don’t have a clear overview over whole pedestrian area.
Do not block the passage of cyclists or motorists while you are waiting to turn or start. Remember those three lines in the top, (never be inconvenience or danger to the other Traficant’s).
Keep an eye on buses at a bus stop as it picks up or drops off passengers. And if a bus indicates that means the bus is starting up then principally you have to give way to the bus if you can do that without being danger or inconvenience to the others.
You always have to orientate and indicate before you enter to the highway, change the lane or merge on the highway and when you exist the highway. Keep an eye on the speed regularly. Overtake the occupants if they drive slowly. Help the Trafficante’s from ramp to come to the highway by the change of lane or speed. Brake on the exit lane and not on the highway.
Speed up (to the legal speed limit) as soon as possible so do not create any inconvenience for others. Keep eye with your speedometer so do not drive under speed or over speed.
Keep (min.) 2 sec. distance from the vehicle in front of you. Do not get too close to the parked vehicles, cyclist and the curb (road edge).

    Special Things to Remember

    Road Conditions

You must pay special attention to the things which have a special impact on your driving here and now for example if you have children on the road then forget about the "crossings, turns and hills further ahead".
Otherwise, you have to pay attend to the followings:

Yes, if you drive at the places where you have Forest, Open fields, Lake/Beach, Autumn (leaves on the road), Buildings, density of the buildings, shopping streets & residential areas along the road etc.
ALWAYS YES! if you drive at the places where, you have lack of footpath, bike path, street lighting, road bumps, pedestrian area and in general poor road conditions etc.
Yes, if you drive at the places where you have hills, turns, intersections, road narrowing’s, roundabouts, tunnels and railway crossing etc.
Yes, if you drive at the places where you have School, train station, shopping center and sports centers etc.
Yes, if you drive at the places where you have Highway, Speed reduction area, Residential & play area, Pedestrian street, Tunnel etc.

    Overtaking

As a general rule, overtaking must always take place from the left, until or unless vehicle in front is going to the left, then you can overtake from the right if lane on the right is not a special lane like, BUS or cycle lane).

    No overtaking Exceptions
Before or at the railway crossing No exceptions
Before or in the pedestrian area If there is a 100% clear view of the entire area
On the way uphill If there are 2 lanes in the same direction and barrier line
On the way to the unmanageable road turn If there are 2 lanes in the same direction and barrier line
Before or at intersections If there are 2 lanes in the same direction also at traffic lights
    Warning Triangle: Normal road 50 m. Highway 100 m

    Speed

Speed limits: Speed reduction must be in/by:

Bus: 80 km/h If you have reduced visibility
    Truck: 70/80 km/h
    Car with trailer/caravan: 70/80 km/h
    Unconditional and Conditional duties

Absolute duty to give way - means that you must hold back for the traffic both from the left and the right side and if the intersection is clear from the both sides then you must continue you're driving. And if You do not have a clear view of the whole intersection then you have to slow down so much that you can stop if there is someone.
You have also an absolute duty to give way if there are: Shark teeth or Yield sign (triangle down) or a full STOP sign. You also have an absolute duty to give way if you drive over footpath Bicycle path – change of (road surface or level). Or you drive from the Land/Property - space - Petrol pump and the field road etc.
The duty to give way from the right - means that you should hold back for all the traffic from the right side, but at the same time you have to see if vehicle from the left will or can hold back for you. You have always duty to give way if you do not have any lane marking or any sign boards.

    STOPPING AND PARKING

    STOPPING PARKING
Any voluntary stop of the vehicle, regardless of the driver inside or outside the vehicle, has a duration of less than 3 minutes. Any voluntary stop of the Vehicle for more than 3 min. Regardless of the driver inside or outside of the vehicle.
    Unless
    • It is a matter of getting on/off passengers
    • it is a matter of unloading/loading of goods.
1 slash on the board = 1 prohibition 2 slashes on the board = 2 prohibitions
You are also not allowed to stop or park on the places, where you create a danger or inconvenience to the other Traficant’s, because you are holding in such a way for eg. you are hiding a traffic sign board, then it is prohibited for you to stop or park there.

Places where stopping and parking is prohibited without it is shown on traffic signs: The places where you are creating danger or inconvenience to the others because you are holding in such a way for eg. you are hiding a traffic sign board, then it is forbidden for you to stop/park.

Dimensions of the car: Length 12 m. - Width 2.55 m. - Height 4 m. Remember this is the maximum size incl. goods.

Warning Triangle:: Normal road 50 m. and Highway 100 m.

    Percentage/Drunk driving:
Highest permissible per mille in the blood If you are not involved in accidents. = 0,50
Highest permissible per mille in the blood If you are not involved in accidents. = 0,10
You Should never hand over the vehicle to a person - you know or should know - who is intoxicated by alcohol/drugs and you must not hand over the vehicle to a person who has taken medication, which is marked with a red triangle. (or because of sickness is not able to drive safely)
A mix of these can go COMPLETELY WRONG!

    Car Technique

    THE STEERING

    • Must be designed in the way so that the steering/vehicle can be operated easily, safely and quickly.
    • Normally, there must not be free play, in the steering system.
    • Power steering fluid should to be in between min. and max. marks. But if the car has electrical power steering then, it can be seen on the car's dashboard.
    • Start the engine, set the wheels in the straight position.
    • Roll down the window and get out of the car.
    • Turn the steering wheel slightly and see if the wheels follows the movement of the steering. If the wheel follows the steering movement at the same time then there is no free play.
    • Remember to check the both wheels.
    BRAKE
    • The service brake must be able to brake and stop vehicle safely, quickly and efficiently at all the speeds and loads.
    • The Emergency brake must be able to brake and stop the vehicle safely and efficiently if the service brake fails.
    • The parking brake must be able to hold/stop the vehicle on an incline road.
    • The brake pedal should be hard and firm.
    • In general, the brake pedal, when pressed hard, should go the maximum 1/2 way down from the top position to the bottom.
    • Should not be go all the way down to the bottom, the pedal hike is also dependent on the car manufacturer.
    • Should not sink at the constant pressure.
    • Turn off the engine
    • Push, the brake pedal to its max. for 4 to 5 times with the engine off.
    • Then keep the brake pedal down.
    • Start the engine, If the (brake) pedal sinks a little then this is a sign of, that the vacuum amplifier is working.
    BEARING PARTS, ENGINE AND EXHAUST
    • All the four tires should be of the same type and have the correct air pressure as recommended by the vehicles manufacturer.

    • Max. allowed tread pattern in the main tread (pattern) is 1,6 mm. but we recommend to change the tires already when you are down to the 3-4 mm. for the safety reasons.
    • The tires, rims and wheel bearings must not be damaged in any way (there should be no rust)
    • The car must be fitted with a shock absorber on each wheel.
    • Tires must comply with a correct rotational direction.
    • Summer tires (without M + S marking) .
    • Winter tires (with M + S marking) (Mud & Snow)
    • All shock absorber must work properly.
    • This means that the car should stop rocking up and down after a movement. Remember to check all four-shock absorber.
    • The engine should not produce any unnecessary smoke and noise.
    • The engine should not have any oil leakage.
    • The oil stick should be between minimum and maximum marks and it can be checked by the oil stick
    • How to check the engine oil?
Open the bonnet and take the engine oil stick out of the engine oil.
Wipe it off and then – dip the stick into the engine oil again and check if it is between min and max? If yes, then it indicates that the car has sufficient engine oil.
The engine must be stopped approx. 10 minutes before you can read the oil level
    • Some local rules do not allow idle engine, running longer than one minute.
    • It helps to cool down the engine so it does not overheat.
    • The coolant should be in between min. and max.
    • The coolant is usually colorful for eg. Pink, green or orange.
    • The exhaust system must be tight and there should not be any leakages and it should not develop any unnecessary smoke or noise (especially when you speed up).
    • Black exhaust smoke (indicates poor combustion due to engine or air filter failure)
    THE WINDSCREEN
    • The windscreen should be kept clean with the wipers and washes. As a general rule, the windscreen must be clean and complete free of damage
    • The washers should be filled in a sufficient quantity so that they are enough for the trip/tour.
    • There should be no sharp edges or any protruding parts (for eg. because of rust) from the bodywork, which can be harmful to the other road users or passengers and driver.
    • The doors, the bonnet and the must be locked.
